Where NEMT billing breaks down

Billing specialist reviewing claim spreadsheets on a laptop
01Denied claimsA missing signature, wrong mileage, or mismatched time and the claim comes back weeks later.
02Slow broker paymentsEach broker has its own portal and format, so trips sit unbilled until someone gets to them.
03Manual re-keyingStaff copy trip details from dispatch into billing by hand, and every copy is a chance for an error.

NEMT billing software built into dispatch

Automatic claims from trips Completed trips become claims with times, mileage, and rider details already filled in.
Broker integrations Import broker trips and send completed ones back without logging into each portal.
Medicaid EDI 837 Generate and submit 837P claim files directly, with payer rules checked before sending.
Denial tracking See every denial with its reason code, fix the trip, and resubmit from the same screen.
E-signatures Riders sign in the driver app at pickup and dropoff, and the signature attaches to the claim.
A/R reporting Track what is billed, paid, and outstanding by payer, broker, and age.

Clean trip data makes clean claims.

Most denials start with bad trip data. In Ride Assist's NEMT billing software, the claim is built from what the driver app recorded: GPS pickup and dropoff times, actual mileage, and the rider's signature. Nobody types it in, so there's nothing to mistype.

NEMT billing software FAQ

Which payers and brokers can Ride Assist bill?

Ride Assist submits Medicaid claims as EDI 837 files and works with the major NEMT brokers. Tell us who you bill today and we will confirm coverage on the first call.

Do I still need a separate billing service?

Most fleets bill directly from Ride Assist. If you already use a billing company, we can send them clean trip and claim data instead.

How are denials handled?

Every denied claim shows up with its reason code. You fix the trip record, resubmit, and the claim history stays attached to the trip.

How long does it take to start billing?

Most fleets submit their first claims within a few weeks. Setup includes payer enrollment checks and a test batch before anything is sent.
